What is Wig Density?
Wig density refers to how thick or thin the hair on your lace wig appears. However, the perception of density can be influenced by the type of hair used and how it’s styled. For instance, using rollers or hairspray can make hair look fuller, while combing out curly or wavy textures can give a voluminous effect. Two wigs with identical densities can look different based on the styling method and texture.
Recommended Density Levels
Choosing the right density depends on the look you’re aiming for:
- 180% (Full): Perfect for clients who love a full, voluminous look. This density works best for hair lengths of 20 inches or longer. [Check out our 180% full-density wigs here!]
- 200% (Extra Full / Glam): This density offers a heavy, glamorous style and is often preferred by those seeking a celebrity-like appearance. Best suited for hair lengths of 24 inches or more. [Explore our extra full glam wigs for a bold look!]
What Density Does a Wig Made with 3 Bundles Have?
The density of a wig made with 3 bundles depends on several factors, such as the hair length, texture (straight, wavy, or curly), and how the bundles are installed into the wig base. However, I can give you a general idea of the relationship between the number of bundles and the wig’s density.
Typical Wig Densities:
- 130% density: This is considered a light density, similar to the natural thickness of hair.
- 150% density: Provides a fuller and more voluminous look, ideal if you want more body.
- 180% density: Much thicker, perfect if you’re going for a voluminous and dense style.
- 200% density or more: This is for extremely thick wigs, often used for more dramatic or fuller hairstyles.
Relationship Between Bundles and Density:
- 2 bundles: Can achieve a density of around 130%-150% for shorter or medium-length hair (less than 16 inches), as less hair is needed to create volume.
- 3 bundles: Usually enough for a density between 150%-180% on medium lengths (16-20 inches).
- 4 or more bundles: For lengths over 22 inches, or if you want a very dense wig (180%-200% or more), 4 or more bundles are recommended.
In summary, if you use 3 bundles to make a wig, you’ll likely achieve a density between 150% and 180%, depending on the length and texture of the hair. For longer lengths (22 inches or more), you may need additional bundles to maintain a high-density look.
How to measure the hair lenght
Tips:
The hair length of straight hair wigs should be measured by the length from head spin to the longest hair at the bottom
The hair length of wavy hair wigs needs to be stretch to straight to measure the length
For a full head ‚normally 8″- 12″ bundles, 14″- 20″ needs 3 bundles, 22″-28″ we recommend 4 or 5 bundles for a full head.
How to Choose the Right Wig Size
Choosing the right wig cap size is critical for a comfortable and secure fit. A properly fitted wig will enhance both the look and comfort of your wig. Here’s how you can measure your head for the perfect fit:
Take Note of the Circumference: Use this measurement to determine your cap size. Most wig retailers offer a sizing chart to guide you. [Find the right wig cap size using our detailed guide.]
Get a Tape Measure: Place one end at the center of your forehead, just touching your front hairline.
Wrap It Around: Wrap the tape around your head, going behind your ears, and bring it back to the starting point at your forehead.
